多做放生，对我们有什么好处？

放生的好处，多得无法计数，今天我们来谈谈学佛人为什么要做放生？
1、前世杀生故，应以放生还。也就是我们无始劫以来，有意或无意，杀害了数不清的生命。就拿这辈子来说，从孩提的无明时候算起，我们杀的虫子（如蚊子、蟑螂、蚂蚁等），小动物可能都无法数计，还有我们吃进肚子里的肉等。所以说我们每个人都造下了无边的杀业，业债要还，命债要还。放生是还命债的最好方式。因果错综复杂，我们放的物命，也许是我们并世所杀的生命转世而来，有些是与我们杀生有间接因果关系的，如我们杀了A的命，B救了A的命，我们现在放生B的命，相当于间接放生了A的命。还有比此更复杂的因果关系，所以我们放生就是还命债。如有些人放生后，久治不愈的病突然好了，甚至有些人病重，在医院都不接收的情况下，参加放生，疾病能够痊愈的。
2、放生结善缘，人生更顺利。只要我们放生，就能与法界众生结善缘。放生从表面上看，是救了一些即将被杀的生命，至少我们直接与这些被救的生命结下了善缘。我们整个世界都是因缘聚和的产物，缘把我们与法界所有众生联系起来。我们放生，能够帮助我们与外面的世界结下善缘，所以想要求个福慧双全的儿或女，或求个好姻缘都应该参加放生活动。
3、断我执、慈悲心故。我们累世造业的最根本的原因还是我执。如蚊子盯咬了我，所以要消灭他们;蟑螂破坏了卫生，所以要消灭他们;肉好吃所以要多吃点;因为我不能吃亏，所以生气、争执、吵架、打架;因为工资低，所以干活想干不干……等等。我执让我们负出了惨痛的代价。同时我们也执于财富，钱财是我的，我要留着自己享受等。拿钱放生，能破除我们对钱财的贪执，拿来放生救命，更能体现我们的悲心，对动物的慈悲心。所以放生能断我执，能培养我们的悲心。
4、往生西方极乐世界的助缘。往生西方极乐世界，要有信愿行。行又分为正行和助行。助行包括放生等善行，我们经常参加放生，救助物命，能消除我们累世的业障，在我们临终时，能减少我们往生西方极乐世界的业障。有些人一辈子念佛不得力，临终时，会有冤亲债主阻碍其放生，如临终前人迷糊，不知道念佛了，更不知道求生西方极乐世界。如果我们平时能参加一些放生，能减少一些这种障碍，让我们往生西方极乐世界更顺利。
